Frank Paul Danna, Jr., 91, of Vidor, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital.



Born in Beaumont in 1917 to Frank and Lilly Danna, he was one of fourteen children. Frank attended St. Anthony Catholic School where he enjoyed boxing and playing football. After high school, he joined the National Guard until the end of World War II when he became a machinist for Ideco. Frank later retired from Ideco after thirty-eight and a half years of service. Affectionately referred to as "Pops" or "Uncle Frank", he was the cornerstone of the family. Frank greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting and story telling.



Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Gertrude Louise Danna; daughters, Judy Danna and Clara Downs and her husband Brad all of Vidor; sons, Frank Danna III and his wife Glenda of Lufkin, Milton Danna and his wife Cinda of Jasper, Michael Danna and his wife Rene of LaBelle, John Danna and his wife Connie of Kountze, Carmello Danna and his wife Geneva of Lumberton, and Carlo Danna and his wife Linda of Bridge City; sisters, Lilly Battaglia of Beaumont and Nena Chirafis of Kingwood; brother, Sam Danna of Beaumont; twenty-one grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica with entombment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2009, at Broussard's.
