Paul Richard Stevens, 76, of 138 Foxborough St., N. Tazewell, Va., died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Tazewell Community Hospital. He was born at North Tazewell, Va. and was a son of the late Annie Stevens Beamon. Paul was a retired building contractor, having owned and operated the Stevens Construction Co. and was a wood craftsman, making all types of furniture. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and served in the Korean War while in the U.S. Army. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Rita Stanley and Mae Semonco. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Pansy Hawks Stevens; brother, Larry Beamon and wife Pat, Flint, Mich.; sister, Betty Cook, Flint, Mich.; special cousin, Lonnie Stout, N. Tazewell, Va.; and several other cousins.Funeral services will be held Friday, May 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with the Rev. Gordon McBride officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Grandview Mausoleum. The Stevens family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, c/o Teresa Deel, 3247 Lynn Hollow Rd., North Tazewell, VA 24630. Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield, Va. is serving the Stevens family.
