A Civil War Union soldier. When he was 25 years old, *Endre Lockrem enlisted for the Union on Jan. 20, 1862 at Northfield, Rice County, Minn. He was a Private in 2nd Company of the 2nd Minnesota Sharpshooters. This unit also served as the 1st US Sharpshooters, Company L. (Unit also served as 1st US Sharpshooters, Co L).

He fought during the bloody Battle of Antietam at Sharpsburg, Maryland. He was listed as badly wounded in the thigh and taken as a prisoner of war on Sep. 17, 1862. He was later exchanged for another prisoner and discharged for disability on Feb. 20, 1863.
