The broken stone for Lavinia Brockway in Second falls Cemetery indicates she is the daughter of Reuben Brockway and Lavinia Brockway and died 3 March 1864, at 20 years of age (i.e. born in 1844). Her father is Reuben Brockway Jr, born 1796 (See Census Records for 1861 discussed below).
There are two transcriptions in the NB Cemetery Archives that appear to ascribe the upper half of the broken gravestone to Lavinia Brockway, daughter of Reuben (Jr) and Lavinia Brockway, no dates; and to ascribe the lower half with the death date of 3 March 1864 to Lavinia Brockway, wife of Reuben Brockway (Sr). Reuben Sr. would have been in his late 80's at the time, if he had married Lavinia. Lavinia is actually his grand-daughter.
The 1861 New Brunswick Census lists Reuben Jr, age 66, and his wife Lavinia, age 56, with several children including Bena, aged 18, who is the right age for daughter Lavinia. Reuben's father, Reuben Sr., aged 87, is living with his son; no wife. Lavinia is listed for him although according to Cemetery Archives, Lavinia lived until 1864. By the 1871 New Brunswick Census, Reuben Sr. has died; his gravestone (ID 105626093) in Brockway Cemetery gives his death date as 1865. In the 1871 Census, Reuben Jr., age 75, and Lavinia, age 65, have only one child Alfred, age 20, living with them (daughter Lavinia having died in 1864). By 1881, Reuben Jr., his wife Lavinia, and Alfred, are all living in Minnesota and are eventually buried there.
Reuben Sr.'s gravestone is in the Brockway Cemetery (ID 105626093), but the NB Archives Cemetery records says there are no remans there. Its been suggested that Reuben Sr. is buried in Second Falls (ID 36814988), but there is no marker for him there.
