F. D. Aukes, a resident here for the past twelve years, passed away Sunday, Mary 4th, at the Douglas county hospital. Death being due to pneumonia.
Mr. Aukes was born June 28, 1872 at Wellsburg, Iowa, and was 68 years old. He farmed and operated a threshing machine at Steen, Minnesota before coming here. Twelve years ago he bought some land on the shore of Lake Victoria in Alexandria township and this has been his home ever since.
Surviving Mr. Aukes are eight brothers and sisters, Edce, Mrs. Gritje Tillinghuisen, Mrs. Mary Reiher of Allison, Iowa, Simon, John and Ben of Wellsburg, Ia., Reinder and Dick of Steen.
His parents, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Engstrom Funeral Home, with Wm. A. Morken officiating. Interment was made in Kinkead cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Olson, Henry Lueck, A. J. Thompson, H. C. Frederickson, Cleve Olson and Burr Kitterman.
