"WEST EDMESTON - In the death of Jabez B. Millard, which occurred Friday night, Jan. 12, 1906, West Edmeston loses one of its oldest, most highly respected and best beloved citizens. Mr. Millard has been ill for some weeks with dropsy and while loving hands did all they could to lessen his suffering and prolong his life his age was against his recovery and he became weaker as the days went by and finally sank peacefully to rest Friday night at 11 o'clock. Jabez Burdick Millard was born March 30, 1822, and was a life-long resident of this place. Nov. 9, 1846, he was married to Eunice Maxson. Their 50th anniversary was marked by a gathering of relatives and friends and was an unusually pleasant occasion. The funeral was held Tuesday at 12 o'clock conducted by his pastor Dr. A. R. Davis who spoke from the words found in Rev. 2:10. Interment was made in the family plot on the Millard farm. A large number of relatives from out of town were in attendance."
