THOMAS FITZHUGH KNOX C&P Manager
Thomas Fitzhugh Knox, 79, a former official of Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Cos. who retired as an administrator in the network operations management section, died Feb. 8 at the Hermitage of Northern Virginia in Alexandria of complications related to strokes.
Mr. Knox was born in Washington and grew up in Alexandria, where he lived for most of his life. He attended Charlotte Hall Military Academy in St. Mary's County and received an associate degree at Benjamin Franklin University.
He served in the Army in the Philippines during World War II.
He retired from C&P in 1972 after 30 years' service.
He was a charter member of the American Boxwood Society and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Alexandria and the Alexandria Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Backus Knox of Alexandria; two daughters, Louise K. Livinghouse of Woodbridge and Elizabeth K. Peters of Mercer Island, Wash.; two sisters, Sophie K. Clagett of Mitchellville and Elizabeth K. Gray of Richmond; a half-brother, Paul B. Taylor of New York; and three grandsons.
