She was born in Berryville, Va., August 21, 1907, a daughter of the late John Ashby and Emma Ruth Lloyd Talley. She was a member of the New Street United Methodist Church in Shepherdstown and worked for a number of years with the Girl Scout and Brownie troops. She was a member of the Shepherdstown Fire Company auxiliary.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Betty) Carpenter, Shepherdstown; Mrs. Eugene (Emma) Benner, Sharpsburg, Md.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Lloyd W. Talley, Martinsburg; Hunter Talley, Bakerton; Kenneth Talley, Shepherdstown; Frank Talley, Bunker Hill; one sister, Mrs. James (Hilda) Brashears, Shepherdstown, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A brother, Samuel Talley, preceded her in death.
