Anna Catherina Elisabeth Wangelin was born in 1825 in the Duchy of Lauenberg to John Henry Wangelin and his wife. She was the eldest of their four known children.

"Elisabeth" married Johann Heinrich Duetsch on December 2, 1849 in Gudow, Duchy of Lauenberg, Pommerania. A daughter, Maria, was born to them in 1853.

In 1854, John and Elisabeth and their infant daughter left Pommerania to make a new life in America. Also with the Duetsch family were Elisabeth's father, John Henry Wangelin and her step-mother Doretha, Elisabeth's sister Maria and her husband and their sister, Christine and brother, Frederick. They settled in Casco Township, St. Clair Co., Michigan where they did general farming.

Their daughter Maria died soon after their arrival but over the years three more children were added to John and Elisabeth's family: Johann Wilhelm (1855-1931), "H. C." Joachim Heinrich Carl (1860-1916) and "Lena" Caroline Maria (1861-1914).

Elisabeth died December 16, 1908 at the age of 85. She is buried in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery at Peters in Casco, St. Clair Co., Michigan as are many other of the family members.
