Again the grim reaper has wielded his sickle keen and this time it is the venerable M N Dunlap of Dunlap, Ill, who is the victim. The deceased was the son of Alva Dunlap, who was the founder of the town which bears his name. Mr. Dunlap came to Peoria when he was but 16 years old and has resided here continuously ever since. At the time of his death he was 66 years old. He was born in Oswego County, NY, in 1834 and came to this country with his parents in 1850. In 1868 he was married to Miss Todhunter of this city. Two children resulted from the union, both boys, Alva Dunlap, now of Chicago, and RS Dunlap of Wyoming, Ill. The cause of death was a disease contracted in the army. He served through the civil war as a member of Robert G. Ingersoll’s regiment, the Eleventh Illinois cavalry and from the ailments he never fully recovered – Peoria Herald, April 18.
