Mr. Jones was a Wheeler native and was a 20-year Army veteran when he retired in 1963. He moved back to Wheeler and worked as a truck driver until retiring in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Clayton of Cottage Grove, Ore.; a daughter, Laverne Jones of Baltimore, MD.; two brothers, Max Jones of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Buck Hill of Eugene, Ore.; two sisters, Agnes Cline of Beatty, Nev. and Vera Lee Parks of Eugene; and two grandsons.
