OBITUARY.
MRS. K. M. SMITH
Mrs K. M. Smith died at the home of her son Eli Smith in Washington township November 7, 1903 aged eighty three years and seven days. The funeral services were held at the Washington M. E. church. Rev. T. J. Wright of Osceola delivered an impressive sermon to the large circle of friends who had assembled to pay the last tributes to the memory of the deceased. Interment was made in the Cox cemetery.
Miss K. M. Wheeler was born October 30, 1820 at Crossroads, Harrison county, Ohio. She was married to Nathan Smith October 10, 1844. To this union was born eleven children, seven of whom are living and four of whom Messrs. E. W. and L. C. Smith, Mrs. L. W. Rissler of Sioux City and Mrs. Ackerman of McCook, Neb. were present at the funeral.
The deceased with her husband moved to Mahaska county, Iowa in 1854. In 1856 she came to Clarke county, Iowa. Her husband died in 1862.
Mrs. Smith untied with the M. E. church at the age of twenty-one years and remained a consistent Christian all her long useful life. A brother, Mr. A. Wheeler of this city is just recovering from a serious illness and was not able to attend the funeral service.
