Murder charges this afternoon were filed against Fred Keck in connection with the fatal stabbing of his brother Theodore at Sanford last night. The defendant was to be arraigned in justice court here at 3 p.m. today.

Ted Keck, 26, is dead from knife wounds and a relative is in county jail at Stinnett today - all because of an argument over a cantaloupe.

Keck and the relative were neighbors north of Sanford. They were well known in the community and had many friends. Apparently everything was going well in both families. Then an unfortunate incident arose last evening.

Officers say that Mrs. Ted Keck ran to the relative's home. Her husband followed. The relative was home. There were words.

A neighbor called the sheriff's office here about 7:50 p.m. A Wilson-Buntin ambulance was summoned and it carried Dr. A.F. Hansen. The officers reached the scene in 25 minutes and the ambulance arrived shortly after.

Ted Keck was cut about the chest, between the eighth and ninth ribs in the left side of his back, and along his left arm. Officers found a .32 caliber automatic pistol and a long-bladed pocket knife. The latter was claimed by the arrested man, deputies said. He had a cut over his eye. He said he warned Ted Keck.

The injured man was brought to County hospital about 9:15 p.m. He died about 4 a.m. today. A widow and children survive. Wilson-Buntin mortuary took the body for burial preparations.

Officers who answered the call were Constable Lee Hutson, Deputies sheriff Bert Bryan and Jack Givens.

There survive the parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Keck, and three brothers, Fred, the eldest, and two boys younger than Ted, or Theodore. Only Fred and one younger brother were reported at home when Ted allegedly met with fatal wounds. Ted was employed at Fritch. The family has resided at Sanford since 1927.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday from the Sanford Pentecostal church and interment will be at Sanford.
