Capt. Shipp, a native Augustan, served on the Augusta Fire Department for over 25 years and was widely known throughout the city. During World War II he was connected with the Oliver General Hospital Fire Department, serving as chief until his retirement some months ago. He was a member of Lodge No. 166, F. and A. M., and a Shriner.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ida Blasingame Shipp; two daughters, Mrs. Postell Cliett and Mrs. Bryan Dubose of Augusta; seven grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Ora Gwinn of St. Augustine, FL and several nieces and nephews.
