A noted Atomic Scientist, Guido was supervisor of the 60-inch cyclotron at U.C. Berkeley Radiation Lab. He was accredited in the discovery of six new elements (Mendelevium, Element 101 especially). Time Magazine, Feb 15, 1954 in commenting on the discovery of Element 99, credits its discovery to Albert Ghiorso, G. Bernard Rossi, Bernard G. Harvey and Stanley G. Thompson.

"Bernie" Rossi received a Commendation from the President for his part in developing the "Trigger" for the Atomic Bomb. He died unexpectedly at the age of 41 from cardiac failure, leaving a widow with 5 children and one in escrow.
