A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 20, at Pinehurst United Methodist Church by Rev. David Banks.
Mr. Allen was a native of Greensboro and a 1965 graduate of Grimsley High School. He received a B.S. degree in Business from UNCG. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and a Vietnam War veteran. He established R.B. Allen & Assoc., an independent manufacturer's representative in the plastics industry. He was an active member of the Pinehurst United Methodist Church. His interests included travel, music, his pets and golf. He was a much loved husband, father, son, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Allen; daughters, Courtney Allen Kidwell and husband, Rob, of Greensboro, and Meredith Allen Scerba and husband, Matt, of Westlake, Ohio; his mother, Kathleen Gray of Pinehurst, and a stepbrother, Jimmy Wheeler and wife, Joan, of Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina.
