Zutulbe Given Tinney

Zutulbe L. Given was born near Sutton W. Virg. Dec. 5, 1821 and died in Washington, Kansas, Apr. 13, 1913, aged 91 years, 4 months and 8 days. She was married to James k. Tinney in W. Virginia Jan. 25, 1844 and to this union were born five daughters and one son, five of whom are still living to mourn the loss of the devoted mother. Mr. Tinney passed away Aug. 31, 1894 in this city. Also one sister of Mrs. Tinney and thirty two grandchildren survive the deceased.
Mr. and Mrs. Tinney lived in Missouri for some time after their marriage coming to Kansas in 1861 locating on a homestead on Mill Creek east of Washington where they lived for many years until they moved to their last home in this city. Mrs. Tinney joined the Methodist church in 1848 and was always loyal to the cause.
On Sept. 5, 1897 she was baptised into the Church of the Brethern.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at the church of
the Brethern by Rev. M.D. Gauby and burial made in the Emmons Cemetery.
