Elizabeth was the daughter of Spencer and Elizabeth (Rhebarth?)(Rubey?) Stevens, a pioneer family who moved from North Carolina and lived on a farm a few miles west of Richmond, IN, near Centerville in Abington Township. It is suspected that Elizabeth's parents moved to Indiana when she was young.
