Clint built a 2 room house on his Dad's farm, later in life Clint gave the property for the Oak Grove School and later they built the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church on the property. We had a get together there at the school this last October 2008. The old school house doesn't seem nearly as big as it did when I went to school there. Grandpa also had a molasses mill and we had lots of molasses and butter on hot biscuits, his molasses was a pretty amber color which is very hard to find now a days. In 1913 Clint and Gertie lived in Higginsville, Missouri and Little Joel was a baby.
Clint had a heart of gold, everytime we went to see them, he would load something in the car, a sack of apples or a ham or something. When we went to see them the first thing grandpa would say was Nellie will you bake me a cobbler and she always did. Grandpa was a diabetic, he was on insulin shots for many years before he died.
