Floyd was born June 21, 1919 in rural Magnolia to Frank and Anna (Akers) Weed. He had three brothers, Elmer, Pete, and Howard; and one sister, Ruth Scott. He attended Magnolia School, and worked as a farmhand in Minnesota and Iowa before joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1941. Floyd served his country in the South Pacific during WWII. He saw a lot of action during his four years in service. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Floyd returned home and married Margaret Vore, and to this union a son, Jimmy, was born. He later married Eileen Harris Barnett, and to this union, a daughter, Sheila, was born.
Floyd owned a trucking business, hauling grain, livestock, shelling corn, and later, rock. His son Jimmy is also a truck driver.
Floyd enjoyed going south to Texas in the wintertime. He liked reading Western books, dancing, and listening to country music.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; sister; wife, Eileen; and an infant daughter.
Survivors include: his son, Jimmy and his wife, Daria, Council Bluffs; one granddaughter, Jeannie Hughes of Hawaii; nieces, Peggy Obrecht, Missouri Valley; Nina Walter, Magnolia; Jean Sublet, Council Bluffs; nephews, Dick Scott, Detroit, Mich.; and Darrell Weed, Norfolk, Neb.; a great niece, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services were held Apr. 23 at the Logan Memorial Chapel, Pastor Connie O. McWilliams, officiant.
Honorary Bearers were: Ralph Ellsworth, Wayne Jones, and Charles Lamberson.
Casket Bearers were: Gail Earleywine, Carl Michaels, Bill Sublet, Gail Lamberson, Paul Rhoten, and Darrell Weed.
Interment was in the Magnolia Cemetery.
