Parents: Hardeman and Caroline Hines Simmons
Wife: Lydia Simmons
Children: Callie, Emma, Willie Bell, Kate, Bryan, Brit Leon Simmons

Died in the Baptist Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, but at the time his residence was Ripley, Mississippi, where he had been in the feed business.

From The Southern Sentinel, 6 Sept. 1923, his obituary includes the following:

"Mr. Simmons was a fine citizen, an honest, honorable, upright and progressive man, who always stood out boldly for the right thing as he saw it. He had many friends in Ripley and wherever he was known and his death is a blow not only to his family but to his legions of friends. His family has lost a devoted and loving husband and father and the state and county has lost a useful citizen. Much sympathy is felt for his aged wife, who is herself in poor health, and for his children to all of whom he was deeply devoted."
