One of nine childern, she grew up in the Oak Grove community. She moved to Springfield, where she was a cook at Drury College until she met and married John Charles Black Nov. 15, 1949. They had two children.
The Blacks moved to Cabool in 1957. In 1997, Mrs. Black became a resident of Kabul Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, three sisters and four brothers.
Surviving are one son, Charles Black of Cabool, a sister, Arlene Lockett of Cabool; three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 20 at the Free Will Baptist Church in Cabool with the Rev. Russell McMaris and the Rev. Darrel Loughridge officiating. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home of Cabool.
