My GGGGG Grandfather William Jackway and his wife coming from the Connecticut Valley after participating in the thrilling scenes of the Revolution and escaping from the horrors of the Wyoming Valley Massacre.

He had enlisted in the Continental Army in 1776. He was also with the Washington Army at Valley Forge in the dreadful winter of 1777. He was honorably discharged at the conclusion of the war in 1783. He settled in Palmyra NY in 1787.

William and Ann Nancy were the parents of David Strong Jackway and Nancy Elizabeth Jackway Hayward


Several websites have this William married in 1774 to Rachel Root. This William did not Marry Rachel Root. The William Jacques or Jaques who married Rachel, was the son of Ebenezer Jaques in Cannan CT
