Elizabeth Morrell Haines
Elizabeth Morrell Haines, of Salina, passed away suddenly Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the age of 83; she was known affectionately as Beth. Beth Haines was born Oct. 26, 1925, in Beloit, the daughter of Clarence and Honora Mary (Cooke) Morrell.
She was married to Lewis Haines until his death in 1968.
Beth worked for 23 years as the office manager at Brann's Furniture. She spent her post-retirement life serving as the treasurer of the First Christian Church of Salina. She was also involved with the church's many functions. Her interests included reading, quilting, and baseball.
Survivors include her daughter, Lyndal Hair Morris and husband John, of Downingtown, Pa.; brother, Wendell Morrell, of Canyon City, Colo.; daughters-in-law, Jean Cooley, of Salina, and Colene Hair, of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Brenda Schoen, of Olathe, Alan Nonamaker, Ted Hair, of Firth, Neb., Tim Haines, of Gypsum, Shelly Tubal, of Salina, Adam Morris, of Saigon, Vietnam, and Beth Morris, of New York City; great-grandchildren, Connor and Lauren Tubal and Lanea and Trey Hair; and sister-in-law, Delores Morrell, of Beloit.
She was preceded in death by her sons, David Hair and Sheldon Haines; granddaughter, Tamara Hair; brother, Wayne Morrell; and sisters, Ellen Hinkle, Virginia Rooney and Charlotte Gildersleeve.
The viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, April 27, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, with a spiritual celebration of Beth Haines' life at 1:30 p.m. in First Christian Church. A private burial service will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Beloit.
