Wife of Charles F. Barnard dies in Brighton At Age 82.

Stanwood: Mrs. Alice Barnard, 82, died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cela Newcomb, at Brighton.

Mrs Barnard was born May 13, 1861, in New York, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Staats Green. She came with her parents to southern Michigan at the age of eight. She was married to Charles S Barnard in 1878. Mr Barnard died in 1920.

Mrs Barnard was one of the pioneer settlers of this community and operated a general store with Goerge Reed for many years. She was an active member of the Women's Society of the Methodist Church and an active member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Edna Mitchell of Morley, Mrs. Cela Newcomb of Brighton and Mrs. Hazel Mitchell of Lake City. There are also three grandchildren, Barnard Mitchell of Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, Mrs Henrietta
Pearsall and Alice Newcomb, both of Brighton.

Funeral services will be held from the home in Stanwood Sunday at 2:30 o'clock. C.W.T with Rev. Donald Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Stanwood Cemetery. The body has been taken from the Pesick Funeral Home and friends may call there until time for services.
