The funeral for Carol Lee "Bing" Chapman, 68, of Bismarck will be held July 26 at 11 a.m. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bismarck. Burial will be in the ND Veterans Cemetery. He died July 21, 2000 at a Bismarck hospital.
Rev. Jeff Franco will officiate. The Eastgate Funeral Service of Bismarck in in charge of arrangements.
Carol Lee Chapman was born on April 17, 1932 in Brinsmade to Blair & Doris Hahn Chapman. He graduated from Minnewaukan High School in 1950 & attended North Dakota State Agricultural College in Fargo for 2 years. He was drafted into the US Army in January of 1953 and served stateside in Maryland until January 1955. In May of 1953 he married Dorothy Jean Mey in Fargo. He attended UND in Grand Forks & graduated with a bachelor of philosophy degree in June of 1957. After his education he worked for Crow Wing County Social Services in Brainerd, Minn. for 2 years & Cass County Social Services in Fargo. He was director of Adams County Social Services in Hettinger for several years & worked with the area office of the State Social Service board in Jamestown for 12 years. In 1973 he moved with his family to Bismarck, where he was involved with public assistance for the State of North Dakota at the capitol building. He retired in 1990 & worked at Burleigh County Senior Center for 2 years. He then returned to his previous state job as a part-time employee.
He was an avid fisherman & was a volunteer at Triangle Y Fish Camp for 10 years. he had two special fishing buddies, Joe Neuenschwander & Bart Fahlgren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
