Patricia L. "Patty" Ewing, 69, formerly of Tarentum, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, in Harmar Village Nursing Home, Harmar Township, where she had been a resident for the past two years. Born March 17, 1940, in New Kensington, she was a daughter of the late Thomas W. "Bill" and Betty (Carney) Dixon. She resided in Tarentum most of her life, and graduated from Tarentum High School in 1958. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crafts and yard work. She especially enjoyed taking care of her family, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Ewing was a member of Trinity United Christian Church, Lower Burrell. She was a former Sunday school teacher at First United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, and Trinity United Christian Church, Lower Burrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, John J. Ewing I, in 2007. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, John J. Ewing II; a daughter, Susan (Joseph) Reskiewicz, of Brackenridge; a son, John J. (Victoria P.) Ewing III, of Butler; two granddaughters, Christie L. Ewing, of Springdale, and Courtney L. Ewing, of Butler; two grandsons, John J. Ewing IV and Michael A. Alexander, both of Butler; two sisters, Margaret (Carl) Tobin, of Lower Burrell, and Betty June Thomey, of Washington Township; two brothers, William (Martha) Dixon, of Upper Burrell, and James (Darlene) Dixon, of New Kensington; and her mother-in-law, Phyllis M. (Esler) Ewing, of Tarentum. Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME, Tarentum. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home by the Rev. Dr. Cletus L. Hull III, her pastor. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
