William Alexander Stuart Barrett was a prominent attorney in Texas and Oklahoma. He was the son of Bethinia Pannill Chevalier and her second husband, Oramel Barrett, a notorious newspaper editor and publisher from PA.
His mother's parents were Reverend Nicholas Washington Chevalier, and Bethinia Frances Stuart, the sister of CSA General JEB Stuart.
William's estate was inherited by his half-brother's son George E Worden, and by his 1st cousin, James Archibald Stuart Chevalier, son of his mother's brother.
