William J. Thomas Sr., 70, of Oxford, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Brandywine Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Dolores Baxter Thomas, with whom he shared 48 years of friendship and marriage.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William H. and Jane Stoner Thomas.
An area resident his entire life, William was employed at the former Lukens Steel Co., the Christiana Machine Shop, and the Atacs Corp. of Oxford.
He was a life member of both the Parkesburg and the Christiana fire companies, as well as a social member of the Parkesburg VFW.
William was a former member of the Parkesburg Baptist Church.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three children, Brian K. Thomas, husband of Diane of Quarryville, Mary Beth Powell of Kinzers and William J. Thomas Jr., husband of June of Refton; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fred Thomas of Parkesburg.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 4, at 11 a.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, with the Rev. Mark E. Beideman presiding.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Penningtonville Presbyterian Cemetery of Atglen.
