Elinor Amanda Alwardt, 86, of Altamont, homemaker, former employee of Altamont Garment Factory and who assisted her husband on the family farm, died at 8:47 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church, rural Altamont, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, and one hour prior to service Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church, the church cemetery, Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, or the donor's choice.

Mrs. Alwardt was born Aug. 3, 1922, in rural Altamont, the daughter of John and Amanda Hubrich Wendling. She married Raymond Paul Alwardt April 28, 1945, and he preceded her in death Nov. 25, 2007.

She was a homemaker, had worked at Altamont Garment Factory and assisted her husband on the family farm. Mrs. Alwardt was a member of St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church, rural Altamont.

Survivors include her son, Linden of Altamont; daughter-in-law, Karen (Jerry) Dall of Carlyle; sisters, Alma Spilker of Altamont and Gladys (Melvin) Graumenz of St. Peter; grandchildren, Valerie (Jeff) Fortner of Maryville, Michael Alwardt of Lansing and Dr. Cory Alwardt of Phoenix; and great-granddaughter, Lauren Fortner of Maryville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Loren; and brother-in-law, Robert Spilker.
