Memorial services for Major William A. Channell,42, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cannon Air Force Base Chapel, with Chaplain Williams officiating.

Maj. Channell served his country for twenty years with the U.S. Air Force including three tours of combat duty. He died Sunday when the private plane which he piloted crashed near Muleshoe, Tex.

Major Channell was born March 18, 1933 at Argo, Alabama. He attended Hewitt Trussville High School where he met and married Miss Frances Shiflett of Alton. Burial will follow services Saturday at East Jefferson, Alabama.

Survivors include the widow, Frances of the home, three children Katherine Lynn, William Arnold, Jr. and Karen Leigh, all of the home in Clovis; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson D. Channell of Alabama, five brothers, Robert Donald, Wiley B., Bailey, Barney and Benny; two sisters, Betty and Brenda; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Birdie Liles.

Locations were unavailable for Maj. Channell's brothers, sisters and for his grandmother.

Steed-Todd Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
