Daniel Alexander "Alec" Hake was the son of the Reverend Emanuel Hake and Jane McConnel. He was the grandson of Daniel Hake Sr. and Sarah Ilgenfritz. He was a farmer.

Daniel married Augusta Berg on 11 July 1876, in Jefferson County. Augusta was the daughter of Gottfried and Charlotte Berg. Gottfried and Charlotte were born in Prussia.

Augusta Berg was born on 13 March 1848, in Prussia. She came to America in 1851, She died on 3 April 1942, in Jefferson County. In 1930, Augusta, age 83, was living with her son Arthur, in Jefferson.
