Kannapolis, NC - Ruby Curlee Horne, age 92, who had made her home at Big Elm Nursing Center for the last 10 years, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after 12 years of declining health.

She was born October 16, 1916 in Union County, NC, the daughter of the late Huey Curlee and Ada Baucom Curlee.

She was a homemaker all of her life and had held her church member ship for many years at Mills Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Atlas Paul Horne; three brothers; and two sisters.

The funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the funeral home. The family will be at the home of a daughter, Rebecca H. Boone, 706 N. Chapel Street, Landis, NC the remainder of the time.

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Boone of Landis, NC and Marie Horne of Kannapolis, NC; four sons, Wilson Horne, Joe Horne, Albert Horne, all of Kannapolis, NC and Nelson Horne of Rockwell, NC; two brothers, Lonnie Curlee of Marshville, NC and Milton Curlee of Concord, NC; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
