Sidney Mason Allen Sr., age 87, of Raleigh, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at the Bowers Hospice House. Born on Nov. 22, 1921, in Pocahontas County, he was the son of the late Kenny and Rosalie Grimes Allen. Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and also worked at Meadow Gold Dairy for 35 years. He was a resident of Raleigh, and was a member of the West Raleigh Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Audrey Irene Allen, on March 22, 2009; by a granddaughter, Tammy Cochran; and a great-great-grandson; by brothers, Elmer Reed, Lewis Allen, Charles William Allen, Homer Lee Allen and James Allen. Survivors include his children, Drema Cochran and husband, Sam, of Raleigh, Sidney Mason Allen Jr. and wife, Adelene, of Virginia, Roger Allen and wife, Jennifer, of South Sandbranch; grandchildren, Sidney Mason Allen III and wife, Shelly, Denise Day and husband, Tommy, Mike Cochran and wife, Kathy, David Cochran, Alisa Cochran, Matthew Allen, Mark Allen, Luke Allen and wife, Ryann, Jonathan Allen and wife, Daniela, Rebekah Sahl and husband, Joshua, Mary Smith and husband, Jonathan, and Leah Allen; 17 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Elizabeth Marie Allen Bowyer Smith of Red Star and Mary Allen Rudisill of Pence Springs. Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Pastor Cleve Allen and Pastor Pat Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Beckley.
