Arnold Brovold, 91
Gully - Arnold Brovold, 91, died Saturday, October 14, 2000 at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, October 18) at Lund Lutheran Church in Gully with Rev. Dan Bowman officiating. Special music will be provided by Les Torgerson and Pastor Bowman. Casketbearers will be Keith Brovold, Bruce Brovold, Todd Fore, David Rindahl, Mark Rindahl and Gene Arveson. Interment will be in Lund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gully.

Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday at Carlin Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Arnold Andrew Brovold was born on July 31, 1909 at his family's home at rural Gully, the son of Jacob and Thora (Jepson) Brovold. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on September 12, 1909. He attended a county school just north of his home.

Throughout his life, Arnold was involved in farming. As a young man, he worked on a farm in Froyd, Mont. for a brief time. His farm operation exempted him from active duty during World War II because the livestock and grain were needed for the war effort.

On June 16, 1938, he married Sanna Hanson at Nazareth Church in Hickory township. The couple lived on their farm eight miles north of Gully until 1946 when they moved into Gully. After Sanna's death in 1998, Arnold continued to make his home there until June of this year.

He enjoyed hunting, trapping, playing baseball and in later years, attending auction sales.

Arnold is survived by a daughter, Carol (Les) Torgerson of Thief River Falls; a son, Gay (Doreen) Brovold of Gully; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Esther Rindahl of Trail, Doris Rindahl of Goodridge, Luverne (Arlie) Fore of Gully, Verna Gore of Little Canada and Audrey (Carol) Siverson of Fosston; three sisters-in-law including Gertrude Christianson of Thief River Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Mildred Bergh; and three brothers, Elmer, Lloyd and Walter.
