MINEOLA - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Harris, 88, of Mineola, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Mineola with Dr. Mark Neeley and Dr. James B. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Mineola City Cemetery under the direction of Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola.
Mrs. Harris died April 26, 2009, in Whitehouse. She was born Aug. 9, 1920, in Leonard. She graduated from Leonard High School, and had lived in Mineola for the past 18 years, formerly of Garland. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mineola, and retired from Montgomery Ward and later worked for Wal-Mart. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her parents, Melton Forrest Smith and Edna Verda Rich Smith; and by her husband, Marshall M. Harris.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Lee Harris, Wylie; daughter, Carolyn Harris, Tyler; two brothers, Charles Smith, Wolfe City, and Rickey Smith, Leonard; three sisters, Edith Apostolou, Mercer Island, Wash., Barbara Lindsey, Rowlett, and Shirley Rivers, Whitewright; three grandchildren, Michelle Lee Harris, Jeffrey Gannon and Kimberly Gannon; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Harris and Christopher Harris.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola.
