John William Moore b. 20 Apr 1809 Cobb Co., GA d. 1903 AL
Married to Nancy Duncan b. 1814 GA d. 10 Aug 1886 AL.

They were the parents of John Franklin Moore, David W Moore, Robert Moore, Sarah Catherine Moore Dyer, William Monroe Moore, Michael Nathaniel Moore Sr, George Washington Moore, Andrew Jackson Moore, Amanda A Moore Belk, Emily Elizabeth Moore Taylor, & Gilbert Britt Moore.

John William Moore brought all his family in ox wagons from Sugar Valley, Georgia to Alabama in 1858. He bought land and settled just West of Belk in Lamar (now Fayette) County. There was no town at Belk then, not even a post office, just a store. The railroad was built after they moved there. He homesteaded what was later known as the Kennedy place. He built a house with large logs split and hewn smooth.

John William Moore had a brother who started to visit from Georgia and stopped in Tennessee, his name was Marion Moore, (called "May")

Location of old homestead is believed to be on land now (1995) owned by Cecil Watkins at what has become known as "Twin Mills" from two sawmills once located side by side just South of Hwy. 96 between Kennedy and Belk, Alabama.
