Obit: Antonia Bertha (Wernicke) Baumann

On Monday morning at 5 AM, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Griebenow in Owen, Wisconsin, Mrs. Ernst P. Baumann died after a lengthy illness. The deceased was born Antonia Bertha Wernicke on April 1, 1860 in Hayton, Calumet County and grew up there. In 1880 she married Mr. Ernst P. Baumann and they lived in Town Forest, Fond du Lac County for two years. In the year 1882 they came to Kiel, where they continued to live. Mr. Baumann owned a butcher shop for many years, which is now owned by Mr. Chas. Dickmann, where he is currently working. The marriage was blessed with seven children of whom one died in childhood. Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons and two daughters, namely: Gustav and Herbert in Indiana, Helmuth in Ohio, Adolph in Chicago, Mrs. Oscar Griebenow in Owen and Miss Mollie at home. Additionally, two brothers and two sisters and numerous grandchildren survive her. The coffin was sent to Kiel on Tuesday and this afternoon will be taken from the home to the Kiel Cemetery for burial. The Royal Neighbors and the Kiel Women's Association, of which the deceased was a member, will provide an honor escort on her way to the grave. Pastor Rech will officiate.
