Abram Anthony De Herrera, 94, passed away Feb. 9, 2009. Abram was raised in the San Luis Valley by Rosenaldo and Rebecca (Lobato) De Herrera.

He is survived by his children Abram Jr., Carmen Juarez, Ross De Herrera, and Paul De Herrera.
His son Antonio De Herrera preceded him in death. Abram is survived by his daughter-in-laws, Terri De Herrera and Anie De Herrera, and son-in-law, David Juarez.

Abram was the proud grandfather of Emily Nicola, Mark DeMaria, Tom De Herrera, Scott De Herrera, and Rachael Magner. He was fortunate to have had three great-grandsons, Alessio Herrera, Leonardo Joseph, and Marco Abran Nicola. Abram's surviving siblings are Ida Manney, Rose De Herrera, Juanita D. Ruybal, Alcario De Herrera, Pete De Herrera, Lawrence De Herrera, Rebecca McGeorge, Augustine De Herrera, and Theresa Lobato. His deceased siblings are Celia Vincent and Margaret Smith.

Abram earned a bachelor of arts degree from Adams State College. He later graduated from the University of Denver with a juris doctorate in law. Early in his career, Abram was a high school teacher and principal in Las Mesitas. He also taught law. During his later professional career, he was an aerospace engineer for Martin Marietta Corporation in Denver. Abram served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II.

A memorial service will be held May 2, 2009, 11 am, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Conejos, Colo. Guests are invited to share a meal after the service. Burial will follow.
