Joseph Edward Hippensteel, New Chester, died at the State Hospital, Harrisburg, Thursday night aged 65 years.

He had been a patient at the hospital for the past two weeks.

Besides his wife, he is survived by the following children; Mrs. Alvin Ports and Mrs. George Cromer, near Hanover; Mrs. Earl Sipe. Edward, Charles, William, Arthur, Hanover and Mervin and Ralph, at home. One sister, Mary, Hundingdon, Pa., also survives.

Published in the Gettysburg Times, Sat. Aug. 19, 1922.Joseph Edward Hippensteel of New Chester, died at the State Hospital, Harrisburg, Thursday night Aug, 17, following an illness of nearly one year from gangrene. Mr. Hippensteel had sustained an injury to his foot one year ago, gangrene developing. Three weeks ago he was sent to the state hospital fir treatment but death ensued. He was aged 65 years. He leaves his wife who was Mrs. Sarah Bowers of New Chester, and nine children, namely; Mrs. Alvin Poist(It was Ports not Poist), Mrs. George Cromer, Edwin and Charles Hippensteel of Bittinger: Mrs Earl Sipe, William and Arthur Hippensteel al Hanover, and Mervin and Ralph Hippensteel at home. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon with services in the New Chester Reformed Church by Rev. Harry S. Kehm, and internment in the New Chester Cemetery.
