OBITUARY FROM THE CARNEGIE HERALD:

Elis Hendricks was born July 16, 1912 in Washita County to Sarah Rosa (Spraggins) and William Stevens Hendricks. He passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the Carnegie Nursing Home at the age of 93 years.

He graduated from Lake Valley High School and farmed for several years south of Gotebo. He then moved to San Francisco, California, in the early 1940s and worked as a steamfitter in the shipyards during World War II. He was also employed in road construction, forestry and managing fruit orchards in California for many years before retiring back in Oklahoma.

He loved deep sea fishing as well as fresh water fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include a sister, Ina Key, Gotebo, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
