John Cook, Cesar's Creek Ind. 80 9mo. 22 1861 (Ind. - typo should be Ohio)

He suffered much during an illness of several months but was preserved in patience. At one time he prayed as follows: " Heavenly Father, be pleased to be with me, and enable me to bear this affliction with patience, and admit me into Thy kingdom." On another occasion: I pray the Lord that he may be pleased to be with me, and help and strengthen me in my feeble condition, for I of myself cannot do anything toward relieving my situation and distress." He frequently spoke on Heavenly subjects. He said:

It is through much tribulation that we enter the kingdom;" and "What a blessed thing it is that Christ came into the world to save sinners. He came not to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance;" and ^'Many shall come, from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of Heaven. Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.'* Thus looking unto Jesus until the end, he quietly breathed his last, leaving the assurance that he has entered into rest.
