James Spradley, age 76 of Old Salem died Saturday, April 25, at Shady Acres Nursing Home in Newton, Texas.

Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, April 27 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville, Texas with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery in Newton County.

A native of Carthage, Texas he had lived in Newton County most of his life and was a retired electrician.

He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Fomby Pennington of Newton, his three sons, Ricky Spradley of Kirbyville, Michael Spradley and David Spradley, both of Newton, two brothers, Joe Spradley and Benny Spradley, both of Carthage, three sisters, Bobby Jones of Kerrville, Texas, Ann Hightower of San Augustine, Texas and Jennie Francia of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
