Fifth son of James W. Bumbaugh and Martha Seace. Norman worked as a brakeman for the Reading Railroad at the time of his death. He was 22 years old, and died of typhoid fever and peritonitis. His obituary appeared in the Wednesday, 8 September 1909 issue of the Gettysburg Compiler.

He was survived by his parents and a sister, Mrs. H.W. Redding and these brothers all of Gettysburg: Samuel, Carson, Harry, George and Clarence. [Adams County News, Sept. 11, 1909. Thanks to Barbara for additional information.]
