A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was the son of Haskel and Ada Scruggs Tate.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Jones Tate; stepchildren, Judy Ann Fults of Altamont, Cindy (Dean) Seagroves and Minnie Smith of Coalmont; sisters, Linda Floyd of Altamont, Peggy Hutchins of McMinnville; grandchildren, Michael, Angel, Deanna and John Michael; great-grandchildren, Emma, Justus and Trey; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Altamont Baptist Church with Micah Roberts officiating.
