Mrs. Annie D. Hart, 96 of St. Marys, Georgia passed away early Sunday afternoon at the Wayne Memorial Medical Center in Jesup, Georgia.

Mrs. Hart is a native of West Carroll Parish, Louisiana. She was born in Oak Grove on January 10th, 1912. She is the daughter of the late John C and Addie Coyle Wall. Annie married William Justin Hart in 1933 in Bastrop, Louisiana and they shared 62 years together until his passing in 1995. They were both drawn to St. Marys by the paper mills were he worked as an electrician and she as an inspector. Later, she became the first police woman of St. Marys as the crossing guard at the St. Marys Elementary School, which she did for 6 years. Mrs. Hart always had a special place in her heart for children. As she lived across form the elementary school, she would often eat breakfast with them in the school cafeteria and continued to watch out for them from her front porch. She was adopted as the official grandmother of the St. Marys Elementary School. Annie was an avid reader, enjoyed visiting friends, and going to church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and also a member of the St. Marys First Baptist Church. She leaves a lasting legacy of love and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Hart is survived by her son, Billy K. (Betty Maebell) Hart of Jesup; her daughter, Bobbie A. (Edward L.) Rodgers of St. Marys; her grandchildren, Terry Meeks of St. Marys, Debbie Jones of Macon, Penny Parsons of Dawsonville, Calvin Hart of Jacksonville, Fl., and Pattie Wright of Jesup; her great grandchildren, Jamey Register of Bremerton, Wa., Jeni Jones of Cumming, David Jones of Dawsonville, Dawn Holland of Dahlonega, Bryan Jones of Macon, Hannah Wood of Nashville, Tn., Trey Wright of Jesup, and Ainsley Hart of Jacksonville, Fl.; her great-great grandchildren, Amanda and Katlynn Register of Conroe, Tx., and Colton Holland of Dahlonega, a nephew John Ernest Sisco of Vivian, La., plus a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Mrs. Hart was preceded in death by her husband, William Justin Hart; her sisters Anna Blankenship and Addie Sisco and her brother John C. Wall.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held graveside at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 9th, 2008 in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Marys with Pastor Steven Kegley of St. Marys First Baptist Church presiding.
