Nina Farthing

Nina B. Farthing, age 91, of Findlay died at 6:50 AM Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Independence House in Fostoria.
She was born in Jackson Twp., Hancock Co. on August 11, 1917 to the late Arnot L. and Nellie M. (Burson) Smith. She married Hobart W. Farthing on May 8, 1938 and they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Hobart preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 2008.
She is survived by: a son, Wayne W.(Tammy) Farthing of Findlay; daughter, Sharon (Paul) Haight of Spring Lake, MI, eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Leona Smith and Loretta Farthing of Findlay. She is predeceased by an infant daughter, Annette S. Farthing; and siblings, Elmer L.; Earl F.; Howard B. and Thelma F. Smith.
Mrs. Farthing worked along side her husband, son and grandsons, Travis W. and Trent W. in the family business Farthing Real Estate and Auctioneers Inc. She was office manager and book-keeper until her retirement in 1992 at the age of 75. She assisted with auctions and also sold real estate.
Nina was a life-long member of the Eagle Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Houcktown. She enjoyed cooking and prided herself on stylish fashion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME with Elder Tom Pitney officiating. Burial will be in McComb Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 & 6-8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in her memory. Online condolences may be expressed via:www.coldrencrates.com.
