BARNETT, Vivian O. (91) of Newport, Washington passed away May 11, 2007. She was born October 29, 1915 in Howards-Ridge, Missouri the daughter of Claude and Mamie (Holland)
Williams. Vivian left school at an early age to help out at the family home. She completed her GED and then continued her education at UCLA in the nursing field. She
became an LPN and worked at the Newport LTC until the age of 70 when she finally retired.
Vivian married Robert Leon Barnett and together they had three children. In 1971 the family moved to Newport from San Gabriel, California. Vivian was the kind of person that enjoyed the quiet life. She spent most of her free time with family and close friends.
Some time ago she was a volunteer at the Visitor Center in Newport. She enjoyed yard work, bird watching and watching the deer. Her greatest love was spending time with her
family. Survivors include her daughter Shirley Porter of Newport and her son Kenneth (& Mary Lou) Barnett of Clovis, New Mexico; eight grandchildren Teri Porter, David Barnett, Rick Barnett, John Porter Cheryl Svoboda, Robert Porter, Mark Porter and Kathy Barnett; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Besides her parents Vivian was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1972; her son Michael; two sisters and one
brother.
Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Newport Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home and Crematory in Newport, WA is in charge of
arrangements.
