Edward Grabowski, 82, of New Kensington, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, in Healthsouth of Monroeville. He was born Oct. 15, 1926, in New Kensington, to the late Stanley Grabowski and Stella Levanduski Grabowski. He had lived in the area all of his life. Edward worked for Consol Coal Co., working in both the Barking and Renton coal mines for more than 36 years as a roof bolter, retiring in 1983.

Edward served during World War II as a Navy Seabee. He was a member of St. Mary Church, New Kensington, the Hunters And Fisherman's Club in New Kensington, where he was a lifetime member and the oldest member, the New Kensington Eagles, Lower Burrell VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Edward enjoyed gardening, golfing and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Maryann (Terifay) Grabowski; four daughters, Diane Grabowski (Keith Borland), of Arnold, Nancy (Clem) Banichar, of Lower Burrell, Ruthann (Glenn) Moeller, of Stoneboro, Pa., and Edwina (Eddie) Glowacki, of New Port Richey, Fla.; sister, Theresa Soulcheck, of Fawn Township; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph, Stanley, Lloyd, John and Ignatius Grabowski; two sisters, Helen Szul and Mary.

Arrangements made with John F. Krupa Funeral Home, New Kensington. Christian Funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, New Kensington, by the Rev. Alan Grote.

Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Full military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
