Carl I. Jensen, 66, of Askov passed away at the Pine County Memorial Hospital at Sandstone Sunday evening, Dec. 21. He has been ill with a brain tumor and spent one month at the University Hospital at Minneapolis and for the past week had been a patient at Sandstone.
Mr. Jensen was born at Waverly, Iowa, on Oct. 19, 1903, the son of Andreas and Marie Jensen. He came with his parents to the Askov community in 1914. He was married to Teresa Paulsen on August 9, 1928, at Askov and the couple farmed on their farm south of the village until two years ago when they moved into Askov. Carl was active in affairs of his community and served several terms on the Askov school board, on the Bethlehem Lutheran Church board and in other activities as an officer in the DBS and a member of Askov's Little German Band.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; two sons Orland and Dennis, both of Minneapolis; one brother, William of Askov; three sisters, Mrs. Sine Hugelin and Mrs. Oline Strandskov of Askov and Mrs. Emma Dinesen of Minneapolis and one granddaughter. One son, Glenn, preceded him in death in 1949, as did his brother, Ted, in May of this year.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Askov with Rev. Harold Petersen officiating. Mrs. Paul Jensen will be the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Petersen. Pallbearers will be six former neighbors and friends from south of Askov; Verne Clausen, Emery Nedegaard, Chris Molgaard, Thorvald Jacobsen, Jerry Sostak and Wagner Jensen,. Interment will be in the Askov cemetery. Larson Funeral Home, Sandstone in charge of arrangements.
